About FORLAND
The Forestry, Land Use, and Value Chain Development in Tanzania (FORLAND) is a four-year bilateral initiative (2025-2029) between the Governments of Finland and Tanzania, focused on sustainable forestry and rural development. Operating across the Iringa, Njombe, Ruvuma, and Lindi regions, FORLAND supports small woodlot owners, rural communities, and micro-enterprises in plantation management, value chain strengthening, and climate resilience.
With its headquarters at Forest and Wood Industries Training Centre (FWITC) in Mafinga, the project builds on the success of PFP2 (Participatory Plantation Forestry Programme) and FORVAC (Forest and Value Chain Development Programme) to ensure the sustainability of past achievements while advancing new opportunities.
Role Overview
We are seeking a Database Management and IT Support Officer to oversee IT infrastructure, database administration, and digital security. The selected candidate will ensure the seamless operation of FORLAND’s technology systems, support data-driven decision-making, and maintain the project’s digital platforms.
Key Responsibilities
✔ IT Infrastructure Management – Install, configure, and maintain hardware, software, networks, printers, and scanners.
✔ System Troubleshooting – Diagnose and resolve hardware/software issues, ensuring minimal downtime.
✔ Database Administration – Set up, manage, and maintain project databases to support forestry and land-use programs.
✔ Network & Security Management – Ensure LAN/WAN stability, monitor cybersecurity risks, and oversee data backups.
✔ Website & Social Media Maintenance – Manage FORLAND’s website & Facebook page, ensuring timely updates.
✔ Technology Procurement – Provide recommendations on IT resource acquisition and upgrades.
✔ Video Conferencing Support – Maintain and troubleshoot virtual meeting platforms.
✔ IT Policy Implementation – Ensure compliance with data integrity, security protocols, and best IT practices.
✔ General IT Support – Provide assistance for any emerging IT-related needs within the project.
Who We Are Looking For
✅ Education & Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Science, or a related field.

Minimum 3 years of experience in database administration or IT support.
✅ Technical Skills & Certifications:

Proficiency in MS SQL, Oracle Database, and SQL.

Expertise in data backup, recovery, security, and database design.

Vendor certifications (e.g., Microsoft, Oracle, or Cisco) are an added advantage.
