In partnership with the BAND Foundation and UCB, Amref is implementing the Enhancing Epilepsy Care in Africa-Tanzania (EECA) project to reduce the stigma and impact of epilepsy and other neurological conditions in the Dodoma region. This initiative aims to improve the quality of life for individuals affected and their caregivers, working closely with the Ministry of Health, regional and district health authorities, and communities.
Position Overview
As the Project Manager for the EECA Project, you will provide leadership and technical expertise to ensure the successful implementation of project activities. This includes stakeholder engagement, relationship management, project planning, monitoring and evaluation, and managing the project team to achieve the desired outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Project Management:
- Oversee daily project operations, ensuring alignment with Amref and donor policies.
- Develop and implement work plans to meet project objectives on time and within budget.
- Provide technical guidance to ensure alignment with Ministry of Health priorities and international standards.
- Lead project budgeting, ensuring accountability and compliance with donor requirements.
- Foster strong relationships with stakeholders, including government agencies and consortium partners.
- Ensure seamless integration of project activities into primary health care facilities.
Monitoring, Evaluation, and Learning (MEAL):
- Develop and implement a robust MEAL framework to track project progress and outcomes.
- Provide guidance to the M&E Officer for effective monitoring and evidence generation.
- Ensure timely reporting of project activities in compliance with donor and organizational requirements.
- Lead stakeholder review meetings and document lessons learned for continuous improvement.
Team Leadership and Capacity Building:
- Supervise project staff, ensuring adherence to organizational policies and procedures.
- Identify training needs and provide mentorship to enhance team performance.
- Foster a collaborative culture that aligns with Amref's values and strategic objectives.
Additional Duties:
- Act as the primary liaison between Amref and stakeholders.
- Support operational compliance and ensure adherence to financial procedures.
- Undertake other tasks as assigned by the supervisor.
Qualifications and Experience
Education:
- Master’s degree in Public Health, Health Communication, or Social Sciences.
Experience:
- Minimum of 5 years in project management with experience in public health interventions.
- Expertise in implementing epilepsy or neurological health programs.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with government agencies and health authorities at national and sub-national levels.
- Knowledge of Tanzania’s health sector policies and practices is essential.
Skills and Competencies:
- Strong leadership skills with experience managing cross-functional teams.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English and Swahili.
- Proven ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining accuracy and quality.
- Proficiency in MS Office, especially Word and Excel.
