Position Overview
As a Tradesperson 2 – Mechanic, you will play a pivotal role in maintaining and troubleshooting heavy mining equipment (HME) to ensure compliance with environmental standards and operational efficiency. Qualifications and Skills Required
Education:
- Certificate of Secondary School Education with a VETA Trade Test Certificate Grade One/Trade Test Level Three in Mechanic or equivalent.
- Full Technician Certificate (FTC) or Diploma in Automotive/Mechanical Engineering.
- Valid Tanzania Driving License, with experience driving in mining environments.
Experience:
- At least 4 years of hands-on experience as a mechanic in maintaining equipment such as:
- BELL Trucks (e.g., 835L)
- Normet Machines
- CAT Equipment (e.g., R2900 Loader, AD60)
- RH 40 & 170 Excavators
- MT 4400AC
- Proven track record in troubleshooting and maintaining BELL and CAT equipment.
Key Skills:
- Strong understanding of maintenance manuals and OEM standards.
- Ability to plan and execute maintenance tasks effectively.
- Quality-focused approach to workmanship and component rebuilds.
Key Responsibilities
- Adhere to safety standards and ensure all maintenance tasks comply with GGML’s safety procedures.
- Inspect equipment to identify and mitigate potential risks of environmental contamination.
- Execute scheduled maintenance tasks following approved work procedures.
- Ensure all equipment maintenance meets or exceeds OEM standards to enhance uptime and reliability.
- Complete equipment release checklists prior to returning equipment to production.
- Provide technical support for component rebuilds to meet quality standards.
- Plan and prioritize maintenance work for timely delivery.
Additional Requirements
- Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to read and interpret maintenance manuals.
- Commitment to continuous learning and adherence to company policies.
