Purpose of the Role

The Operator role involves efficiently loading, unloading, and stacking materials while upholding inventory governance, customer service standards, and supporting production. The position ensures compliance with safety protocols and effective materials management to optimize operations.


Key Responsibilities

1. Fleet Management

  • Conduct pre-shift inspections using the forklift inspection checklist.
  • Operate, clean, and maintain forklifts in optimal condition.
  • Ensure fuel and fluid levels meet operational requirements.

2. Safety and Environmental Compliance

  • Adhere to Department of Labour stacking exemptions.
  • Maintain and follow 5S and site housekeeping standards.
  • Use designated personal protective equipment and comply with all SOPs and GOPs.

3. Stock Quality Management

  • Ensure compliance with stock rotation principles (FEFO).
  • Conduct quality checks on packaging on the warehouse floor and prior to loading.
  • Participate in handover processes before and after shifts.

4. Inventory Management and Control

  • Perform accurate daily stock counts using handheld devices.
  • Generate variance reports and resolve discrepancies.
  • Maintain effective communication with Inventory and Warehouse teams.
  • Ensure precise recording of returns and accurate stock movements.

5. Loading and Unloading Efficiency

  • Accurately load and unload vehicles using the Load Summary to verify quantities.
  • Assist production lines by loading raw materials and stacking finished products.
  • Maintain clear communication with Logistics Coordinators and team members.

Minimum Requirements

  • Education: Matric/Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Licenses: Valid forklift driver’s license.
  • Experience: Operating a double handler forklift.
  • Technology: Basic computer literacy; digital device proficiency for stock counts is an advantage.
