Role Overview
As a Demand and Supply Planner, you will play a pivotal role in managing the supply network to ensure optimal stock availability while balancing distribution costs. This includes supply planning, inventory management, load optimization, and providing critical insights for business operations.
Key Responsibilities
Supply Planning
- Develop and maintain coordinated supply and deployment plans to meet customer demand.
- Provide medium/long-term visibility to warehouse, dispatch, and purchasing teams for capacity planning and price negotiations.
- Ensure smooth execution of promotions and new product launches while minimizing costs and write-offs.
Inventory Management
- Balance product availability needs with inventory cost optimization.
- Regularly revise stock policies for finished goods in collaboration with purchasing and warehouse teams.
- Monitor and address volume variances impacting supply, providing alternative scenarios as needed.
- Maintain proper stock freshness and oversee the implementation of stock rotation principles.
Load Optimization
- Plan and optimize mixed loads considering warehouse, demand, and transportation constraints.
Exceptions Management
- Highlight potential supply constraints and propose actionable solutions.
- Communicate all supply issues and related trade-offs effectively to stakeholders.
Collaboration and Continuous Improvement
- Engage with Demand Planners, Purchasing Managers, and Supply Chain teams to drive improvements in demand planning accuracy and supply efficiency.
- Train and mentor junior supply planners and develop learning materials.
- Act as a super-user or expert in various forums, sharing best practices across teams and regions.
Event Management
- Ensure smooth implementation of new product launches, discontinuations, and other supply chain events.
Performance Indicators
Your success in this role will be measured by:
- Achievement of targeted stock availability levels and freshness standards.
- Reduction of stock-outs and achievement of dispatch schedule targets.
- Maintenance of accurate supply plans and master data.
- Contributions to KPIs, including out-of-stock rates, SLOB reduction, and demand-supply reconciliation.
Critical Experiences & Qualifications
Experience
- Minimum 5 years in relevant operational roles, including:
- Factory planning, Finished Goods (FG) planning.
- Vendor management and supply scheduling.
- Manufacturing Production Scheduling (MPS/DPS).
- Customer Service or Customer-Facing Supply Chain roles.
Preferred Skills
- APICS/CPIM certification is highly advantageous.
- Experience in supply chain development and cross-functional collaboration.
Competencies
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to balance complex trade-offs.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Adaptability to dynamic business environments.
