Position: Intern-Program Officer

Contract: Fixed-term (1 Year) | May 2025 – April 2026 (Renewable based on performance & funding availability)

Location: Mwanza, Tanzania

Reports to: Programs Coordinator (PC)

About World Renew

World Renew Tanzania is an international Christian organization dedicated to community transformation through sustainable development and disaster response programs. Registered as an International NGO under Tanzania’s Non-Governmental Organization Act (Registration No. I-NGO/R2/000640), we work closely with local partners and government councils in Geita, Shinyanga, Tabora, Mara, and Mwanza. Our programs focus on:

Role Overview

Based in Mwanza, the Intern-Program Officer will play a key role in program coordination, planning, and implementation. Working alongside the Programs Coordinator, Monitoring & Evaluation Manager, and project teams, the officer will support project execution, monitor progress, contribute to reports, and facilitate partner engagements.

Key Responsibilities

✔ Assist in planning, executing, and monitoring community development and disaster response projects.
✔ Support project reporting and documentation.
✔ Facilitate partner meetings and maintain effective communication with stakeholders.
✔ Promote gender equality and diversity across all program aspects.
✔ Uphold World Renew’s values and principles while fostering a positive work environment.

Who We Are Looking For

Faith & Integrity: Active engagement in a Christian faith community with high ethical standards.
Leadership & Management: Strong organizational, decision-making, and leadership skills.
Technical Proficiency: Experience in participatory community approaches (PRA, PLA, AI).
Analytical & Problem-Solving: Ability to set priorities and navigate complex challenges.
Tech-Savvy: Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint (QuickBooks knowledge is an advantage).
Communication & Collaboration: Excellent interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills.

Qualifications & Experience

🎓 Education:
Bachelor’s degree in Community Economic Development, Project Planning & Management, Business Administration, Cooperative Management, or related rural development fields.

💼 Experience:
Minimum of 3 years in community development, microfinance, agricultural economics, cooperatives management, literacy programs, or community health initiatives.

🗣 Language Proficiency:
Fluent in both English & Kiswahili (written and spoken).

🚗 Travel Requirements:
Must be willing to travel 10-15% of the time to rural project sites in Geita, Mara, Shinyanga, Tabora, Kagera, and Kigoma. Some travel will involve staying in remote areas with limited facilities.
