Position Overview:

As a Senior Mining Engineer at GTL, you will provide support for technical mining issues, both on-site and remotely. This involves analyzing mining data, interpreting physical mining operations, site costs, and collaborating with the client's technical services team. You will also manage mining projects, scheduling, and cost control.


Key Responsibilities:

  1. Mining Operations Management:

    • Oversee daily mining activities to ensure efficiency and adherence to schedules.
    • Manage mining contracts, including associated costs, and ensure compliance with project specifications.
    • Supervise mining teams to meet performance and operational targets.
    • Monitor production and deliver monthly performance reports.
    • Prepare and submit monthly mining progress claims to clients on time.
  2. Technical Services & Reporting:

    • Analyze and interpret mining physicals and cost data.
    • Create and implement reporting templates using MinRep, Deswick, and Surpac software.
    • Ensure compliance with mine reporting systems and internal standards.
    • Act as the main contact between the client and site management.
  3. Safety & Compliance:

    • Adhere to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HS&E) policies and perform safety checks.
    • Implement and monitor safety regulations, ensuring that the mining environment is hazard-free.
    • Drive cost reduction initiatives without compromising production or quality.
  4. Team Development & Training:

    • Mentor and train graduate and vocational engineers.
    • Evaluate working conditions and recommend improvements for operational efficiency.
  5. Stakeholder Engagement:

    • Maintain strong relationships with clients and ensure contract requirements are met.
    • Ensure compliance with contract variations and other management plans.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Experience: A minimum of 5 years' experience in mining, with both open pit and underground project knowledge.
  • Skills:
    • Proficiency in MinRep, Deswick, and Surpac software.
    • Expertise in mining operation design and optimization.
    • Strong communication skills and ability to work independently.
    • Proven experience in managing mining costs and claims preparation.
  • Safety Commitment: Strong commitment to safety and proactive management of mining risks.
  • Licensing: A valid Tanzanian Driver's License is required.
  • Membership: Membership with a relevant professional body is preferred.
